Budget and Fees (Definitely not accurate but it's a hypothetical show)

Important Notice -

This category of blog posts is about a module/project for my Fine Art Degree. This particular module contains an element to plan every aspect and make the work to be put in a hypothetical exhibit. This means the exhibit isn't planned for real, it's all pretend for my grade. This is so we get real-life experience and learn the elements and factors of putting on an exhibit. This means everything is thought about, the context, budgets, audience, why etc but no Exhibit is happening. This blog post talks about the Baltic which I have decided to be the place where my hypothetical exhibit would "happen". I'm not affiliated with the Baltic; this is university work.

This budgeting sheet had my life, I found this quite difficult as I wasn’t in touch with Baltic to put this show on some, and I'm not sure how their finance or fees or budgeting works for exhibits they put on. They are funded through Arts Council England, Gateshead Council and Northumbria University, and is a registered charity to accept donations from the public as well. It was a lot of guesswork but I put in what I thought as estimates there's probably a lot they have to think or put in that just wouldn’t be known unless you work or exhibit there. I got the basics of an exhibit budget and fees sheet down though.

If this were an actual exhibit being put on the venue and the artist (that's me) would discuss numbers and get an accurate estimated budget and fee examples but since I'm not in contact with the Baltic except knowing how they are funded by the likes of the Arts council etc as stated on their website, I had no idea for budgets or how their finances look for an exhibit of this large scale.

I factored in prices using other exhibit budgets and fee sheets available online but unsure of how the teams at Baltic are paid for staff and potential contractors this estimate and total are most likely way off. The learning lesson of this section was to make sure all components needed for an exhibit are thought about concerning the venue and I think I got each category on the sheet. It was a good opportunity to tune my business skills from GCSE to an art-related event as there are things on here I wouldn't have considered till I researched.
